Is it your first SMT game? It's not like Pokemon where your starter can be good throughout the whole game. You have to keep replacing Personas as you level up. Any early Personas you get will outlive their usefulness very quickly. Even if Izanagi is a starter, you shouldn't treat him specially. Being a starter means nothing in this series.


Its my first turn based rpg since pokemon years ago. And I thought since he looks cool he'd last a little longer.

Not the case in this series. You can't really get attached to any persona until you get to the end game personas (lvl 50-60+).
