of course it will hurt wii U sales.
Smash Bros is a franchise that people buy consoles only for the game. Id say millions of people. Wii U didnt even reach the number of potential SSB buyers, 3DS has.
The minimum they have to do is launch the 3DS version later, a month at least, but it wont fix the problem.
Id say that it will hurt wii U sales in 1 to 2 million.
