1. Battletoads did not stay unique to Nintendo systems, it was on arcades and Genesis as well.

2. While Rare's games certainly helped, let's not pretend that it's been anything OTHER than Mario and Zelda most responsible for selling Nintendo consoles over the generations, since the NES.

The idea of Nintendo corralling some more development studios under their umbrella isn't a BAD idea, in fact I've championed them buying studios ranging from Vanillaware to Atlus to Sega to Platinum over the years. Hell, I thought they should've bought Factor 5 back in the day, kept them from going under. But throwing more games at a system isn't the ONLY answer. The games have to actually be good, and they have to actually sell, people have to actually go out and BUY them.

So it's not a bad idea for Nintendo to scoop up some more exclusive content for their systems. But that's not the only answer.
