Kinect was seen as worth the extra money though. For $300 the casual gamer got an HD system with an already established library, and a motion control add-on for your body.

With the Wii U, you're basically paying $300 for a tablet thing you don't want and the ability to play count em 2 Mario games! (casual perspective) 

It isn't the same. Plus, the GC price drops didn't start raining money for Nintendo either and that's what we are discussing at the moment. GC against Wii U. Wii U has more price drop options, which will only help long-term sales. (Even if not much)
