Agreed. There is still great potential for the genre but a title has to offer at least something new. The stage in Ghosts that was underwater interested me, until I realised that you couldn't go anywhere that you wanted, you couldn't kill the sharks and the game was basically a pretty point and click adventure. However, with good sales for Ghosts don't expect the next COD to be much different. Look at it like the movie industry, big budget release after big budget release following a formula that plays it safe so predictable sales and returns can be made. If you are looking for something new the indie scene seems more and more important with lower production cost and a greater likelyhood that the devs can take a few chances. Thankfully all of the 8th gen consoles seem to be really keen on indie titles....
