Imo, Super Paper Mario was fine in terms of visuals, story, and music. Infact I'd say it's the best Paper Mario in those areas, but where it falls short is the most important part, being gameplay. Combining RPG with Platformer really took it's toll here, as the game falls short in both areas in comparison to games that focus on one or the other. I mean, to fight enemies you just jump on them, and that's pretty much it. You can take out the majority of enemys in this game that way as there's hardly any variation in terms of what attacks you can do and what types of enemies there are. Needless to say it got repetitive real quick. The platforming parts I admittedly can't remember all too well, but that's probably because there were few platforming sections of note. Most of it is just rudimentary stuff, though there was this reverse gravity part that was kinda cool. Still, I finished the game wishing it stuck with the turn based battle systems and badges, as that woulda made it undoubtedly better than TTYD for sure.
