1. wRPGs/wRPG hybrids e.g. Deus Ex series, Dragon Age Origins, Witcher series, Mass Effect series, SW:KoToR, Elder Scrolls series, Fallout series
Difficult to define with some games due to the fact they've started to diversify in recent years bringing in aspects of other genres, but that's partly why I love wRPGs.
2. Action/Adventure e.g. Uncharted series, Last of Us, Assassins Creed series, Prince of Persia series, Metal Gear Solid series, Shadow of the Colossus, Zelda
3. FPS e.g. Half-Life series, Left 4 Dead series, Counterstrike, Call of Duty series, Battlefield series, Medal of Honor, Unreal series, Quake, Doom, Wolfenstein
4. RTS e.g. Age of Empires series, Starcraft series, Warcraft series, Age of Mythology, Total War series, Rise of Nations
5. jRPGs e.g. Final Fantasy mostly this actually, Grandia series, Star Ocean series, Golden Sun, Chrono Trigger
