Well I guess I will have to eat my words a little bit. I just got Ryse today and I must say I'm pretty impressed by it. Chapter 3 in the forest is absolutely breathtaking. I would say this game looks better than Crysis 3 on PC, which I own. I don't have a PS4 so I can't compare Killzone but I'm sure it is up there with Ryse. This generation might have a few surprises after all. I can't wait to see Uncharted, The Order and Halo this year.

Well that was quick LOL.

Well I'm not blown away like I was when I first fired up my PC earlier this year, but I am impressed. I still stick to my original statement that while I do believe games will continue to look better as this gen moves along I don't think I'll be blown away by anything. I think we're at the point where games just look great. I don't see how games can look much better than Metro: Last Light, Crysis 3, Killzone, Ryse etc. I know they will look better but I can't imagine any leaps over these games. We're not quite at cutscene quality but pretty close and recreating realism will be impossible since it would take 10 years to make a game. This generation is going to be all about gameplay, I hope.

Then just keep upgrading your PC and you will see the difference once again. This generation sony and microsoft played it safe and went for a low to mid ranged build for consoles but PCs will dwarf consoles for many years to come. Just go look at star citizen on PC, that game looks amazing.

I may upgrade my PC in a few years but I'd rather sit on my couch and play with my friends on Xbox Live. I do 3D modeling and 2D graphics work on my PC so that is mostly the reason I even have one. Honestly the only thing that impresses me are some of the special effects in new movies, especially the Hobbit. That is some good work right there. Games are games. I think they are at the point where they will slowly progress but no more leaps.
