Yes they have stories. The DW series is in fact an adaption of Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Has so much misinformation been spread about the series that you need to ask?

I ask more because of my ignorance than anything I've been told about them (which is pretty much nothing.) It just seemed to me that a game like this would be much more focused on scores than objectives, meaning a story is unecessary, but again I have no idea. 

Musou games are much more objective and mission focused than every other hack and slash game. It is their defining attribute.

I see, that's pretty good. Then they'd definitely have to do tell the story of the hyrulean civil war in this.
