| luvtospooge said: So I bought and finished Ys : Memories of Celceta in 18 hours. My thoughts? It's a good game, and a good RPG. The combat was fun and sometimes challenging (It must be hard as fuck on Nightmare though, maybe I'll try it in the future) The soundtrack is really good, the environments are pretty cool and what not. The story was kind of lacking, however..It was really generic and I did not really feel involved. There was no character development whatsoever, which is a bummer for me because I want character development especially in an RPG. I want to feel the progression and what not. (Maybe it's the way YS series are made?). Almost all the characters felt uninteresting, and the story was way too linear.
P.S I'm dying to play an RPG like Persona 4 or Suikoden 1&2, it's been too long. I absolutely cannot wait for Persona 5. |
I haven't beaten the game yet but Y's story is just fine for me, as I knew exactly what I would be getting before I went in. Its not a "End of the World" plot which I find refreshing. Its more so just another story to add to Adol's Journals of his pilgrimage. Makes it light and (mostly) happy venture. Mostly you will be concentrating on the combat like you said. Seeing as this is an Action RPG, too much story could have messed up the flow. P4G works on a handheld because combat/dungeon crawling and Story/Social Link is so distincly seperate, that you can guage which one to do at any particular moment. Ys is set up that you won't be trapped in long expositions, "Go Here" discriptions, then just find your way.
Who doesn't want more Persona like games tho? ;)
I give Ys a 9/10, and is my current most recommended title.
