If you take that away then what would be the draw for people too the Wii U? It would still have the stigma of being a "kiddie" console, so it still wouldn't draw PSand Xbox fans to it, but it would also remove those people interested in buying the Wii U out of curiosity of the gamepad. You would also remove off tv play which is a LOT of peoples (including myself) draw to the console. Granted Iove Nintendo's first party, but it's still an advantage over the other systems. As far as I see it, I just think the Wii U needs those new titles that the Wii had but make them exclusive. Like say a good Crystal Bearers game, a new No More Heroes, Mad World, Last Story 2, Pandoras Tower 2, it's getting Bayonetta 2, just some continuations of games or first time games that are known and loved, but in HD and give it the online support the original Wii never could. The bottom line is there is a pro controller available, do you really think that $50 difference will sway the truely interested in the console? I do not. |

This is exactly what i think fucked Nintendo up. They had already found their market. They hit the jackpot with the Wii. They were able to exist and be very relevant without the main 3rd party games that could be found on the PS3 and 360. Even Sony wanted a small piece of that market. That's why Sony decided that the Move would be a good idea even though they didn't support it all that much
They found their own market and then abandoned it so they could bring something new? That whole "Lets do something new" shit is what got Nintendo in this very situation. The 3DS kept its same way of playing. They only added 3D which is basically like sprinkles on an already baked cake.

That "kiddie" console stigma didn't hurt the Wii when it came out. The Wii and its whole ecosystem(well.. a good portion of it) was BOOMING!
there were plenty PS and Xbox guys who bought a Wii.
You have to remember that everything doesn't appeal to the same people. everybody is not going to like the Wii regardless of how well it's doing. I could live with a couple of people who don't like the Wii. Aslong as it's thriving then i'm good.
but it would also remove those people interested in buying the Wii U out of curiosity of the gamepad. You would also remove off tv play which is a LOT of peoples (including myself) draw to the console
That's why they would make it available as a peripheral. Wii Fit did WONDERFULLY as a peripheral

The pro controller is nice but it is not what brought excitement to the Nintendo. I think a $250 price with a Wii Mote will sell better than a $250 Wii U with the Gamepad. It would also allow Nintendo to profit quicker because i'm sure the the Wii Mote costs a lot less to make than the Gamepad
I would like to see those games aswell but these games need a platform where they can thrive. The Wii was booming and allowed for a lot of games to thrive while others helped Wii boom more as they thrived
