None of it has to be this way. I just ask of cool software that microsoft can bring more of like kinect adventures. Microsoft could atleast try and be more ambitious. Just like how nintendo found out the WII mote could be used for serious things FPSs, action games, and all types of other games. Their has to be a way for microsoft to shine. I think kinect could be alot of use in real time strategy games. Instead of using a god awful controller to navigate the units, voice commands can become a more intuitive way of handling the gameplay. I smell some potential where RTSs can be cool again on consoles but alas microsoft won't even attempt this.

It’s not fair to compare Kinect to Wiimote, or other similar devices like the Move.

The Wiimote is basically a gamepad that doubles as a mouse pointer. Therefore it works fine for typical gaming experiences. But Wiimote still has its limitations, such as not having the ability to recognize the movement of your entire body. Hence, Wiimote and Kinect are completely different devices and have different strengths.

Anyhow, the original Kinect had too many limitations. It had too much lag and simply didn't track as well as the new Kinect. I think we'll see developers doing more unique things with the new Kinect, even if it’s for games not developed solely for Kinect.

It may not be fair to compare it to wii mote or move but I'm sure that kinect will pose some advantages in games. It may not have buttons per se but that shouldn't stop microsoft from being able to make enthralling software. In fact I think the perfect game to support kinect may be the next iteration of halo wars. Remember the advantages that I had posed for kinect such as giving an intuitive way to control RTSs ? Anywho, move flopped because sony was not committed to giving quality software like nintendo did for the WII. The jury is still out on whether microsoft is willing to actually take advantage of kinect.

I realize that their are different strengths to a controller. Fighter's will always be better with gamepads/arcade sticks and FPS are best utilized by wii mote/mouse and keyboard. I'm sure there's something microsoft can do with kinect.
