Plus we already know the audience left COD on Wii when Modern Warfare launched on the HD twins and skipped Wii. Then when a port come out 2 years later it was too late. |
that doesnt really explain why COD on Ninty platforms did worst and worst as time went on, it cant be just cause MW1 was late to the console, becasue at that point it wasnt even the PEAK of COD's popularity, fact is the series was most popular with Blops/MW3 two games that Wii did get and on time. Hell DS got a MW1 game and the series started dropping after that too.

It is a cascading effect. I was one of the first of my friends to shift to PS3. Then when the other games come along later they had no one to play with so some of them followed me others went to 360. I even got the game on Wii jsut so I could play with one friend that couldn't afford more than one console lol.
The fact is IW has always shunded Nintendo systems even to this day. It may be for good reason I don't know. But what I do know is any serious audience that did exists on Wii ended up on PS360. Part of that was obviously Nintendos fault has the hardware wasn't capable of delivering HD gfx so developers did not want to spend too much effort downporting so they didn't bother.
This is why I said before the gen started Nintendo need to forget about trying to get hardcore gamers to switch form their system.
They need to instead retain their kids who grow into adults. These future adults will become the hardcore gamer on their platform, assuming they can retain them. Nintendoland if it was better executed is a good way to market your IPs. then steadly release them over time and these kids can identify with them.
However they seem to be stuck between two world and no one exactly know who they are targetting. So at this stage I cannot see how multiplatform games will ever sell a decent number on a Nintendo system unless somehting drastic changes.

The thing is these kids that grow up are going to WANT to play the coolest games out there. There are simply too much series that were missing on Ninty systems since...hell since N64. The irony is that this was supposed to change with the WIi U. It was not going to be that far behind the PS4 xone in terms of power, at least not a big a gap that Wii had with the HD twins. Now its not even getting PS360 games, so i cant imagine what happens whed devs start really messing with PS4/xone. It isnt just COD, its just the whole 3rd party environment. If it isnt a game that is family friendly, platforming it seems to falter on the system, hell even then (not like Rayman or SOnic lit up the charts). There are lot of excuses made, but look at Watchdogs, got announced with all the systems, was able to be preordered with the others. Now which is the only version NOT on the preorder charts?

Exactly my whole point. They need to start retaining these kids. Only way to do that is to release top notch 1st party at a steady pace, throw in the mature titles too like metroid etc.. in the mix and then invest in new mature IPs.
Ontop of that they need to work with 3rd parties to see what they want but yet doesn't compramise their qerkyness but enough to keep the 3rd parties happy.
Effectively they need to grow their brand like XBOX has.
