Probably because the PS3's losses are relatively small compared to the other losses the company has suffered. Yes, PS3 wasn't good financially, but them being crushed by Samsung in the TV market has hurt them more. (Heard them promoting Sony 4K today.)

Plus, causing the format war severely hurt disk sales going forward. DVD's still sell, a bit. But Blu-rays are going the way of the CD quickly. And few people buy CD's anymore (They actually used to have lots of 'music stores' everywhere!) I would like to see the percent of people that use their Blu-rays for streaming vs actually playing the disk. They were really counting on cornering the future by controlling the format.

Yahoo and Netflix are already supporting 4K. With the new h.265 standard and the spreading of Fiber, 4K will become more common as a streaming medium. I don't see disk making a comeback. The net is getting faster and the size of the files are going down by half. (Imagine making larger freeways and doubling the speed limit - well, it's better than that!) It would be as if a delivery battery system would replace power lines in houses.

Let's not forget Sony Pictures with gem's like 'After Earth.' Which isn't the biggest failure of the year, because that really bad person's (author's) movie did even worse. But financially it was a colossal failure.

Well, that's just my opinion.

TL/DR: Because it's overshadowed by larger losses.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.
