Metacritic scores means nothing if your games keep flopping on a commercial basis.

Would you rather a system full of crappy games that sell well to the masses?

Those so called "crappy" games are realized in high quality according to the masses so yes.

CoD falls under that. You lost the War even before it began.

The masses are stupid.

Then I guess Halo, GT, and mario are trash then ?

If the masses were truly stupid then why do they also dissociate from the bad games you hardcore gamers hate then ? Because much like you they think the game is likely trash like Too human or duke nukem forever.

Dude, seriously, let it go. The quality = sales argument has been discussed to death and most people agree that there is no direct correlation between the two. Keeping up with the Kardashians, Jersey Shore and many other trash shows have/had huge ratings and quality shows like The Good wife don't.

Pupeteer bombed this year (so did Tearaway) and people who've played it including reviewers agree that it's an awesome game. Critics agree that the latest COD is not a good enough games and still sells more than almost any other game not called GTA. No one is saying that if a game is popular, it has to be trash, but if a game doesn't, it's due to a great number of reasons and quality is only one of the possible ones.

Why did Mario Galaxy sell that many units and its sequel  sold so much less? Was it quality? Accoring to critics, not really. There were clearly other contibuting factors. Also, the bLazblue series is contantly praised for its quality, but its sales are no much for Street fighter or Tekken?  Hell even PSASBR sold better than any Blazblue game and that game was considered medicore at best. Difference? PSASBR had much better marketing and included many popular characters. I personally loved it but bought it for Nariko alone.

Avatar is by no means the best movie ever made,  yet it made more money than any other movie ever released. People kept going back to the theaters to watch it and had to pay a premium price. Does that make it the best movie ever made or simply a popular movie? Simply put, no.

Suit yourself to use the hardcore base as a measure for quality.

Dude, who said anything about hardcore base? I'm talking about general public and critics here. But suit yourself. Guess it's one of those days that everyone else is wrong and you're right, sicne they disagree with you.
