Every console that has made the 100 million club has had its X-Factor

Gameboy - 1st portable and most revolutionary thing at the time

PS2 - DVD Player that could play games, that was cheaper than a DVD player

Wii - Motion Controls

PS1 - Lineup that actually outdid Nintendo's / much cheaper price for games and systems.

DS - 1st mainstream technology with a touch screen : paved the way for the smartphone/tablet era in technology.

That being said I don't think the PS4,Wii U, or Xbone will even get close to 100 million.  The most innovative one is the Wii U, its really just a home console that uses the DS's strengths.   Xbone and PS4 are just graphic upgrades with remodeled controllers (GBA,SNES,N64,GC,PS3,Saturn,Dreamcast) they end up selling less then their previous consoles.   All 3 launches were great but thats just each companies core fanbase, who would buy the console no matter what.

Unfortunately I think none of the launch line ups seem good to my eyes.

The most innovative one may be the WII U but when you start putting one gamecube esque games that nobody wants then we have a serious issue here.

Actually I think the PS4 may have the best chance to reaching 100 million but the xbone's market gonna have to pay for it. The PS4 can grow at the expense of the share of the X1 just like how 360 grew at the expense of the PS3.

I thought the Wii U's launch lineup was decent with NSMBU,Nintendo Land, and ZombiU but with 8 months of nothing, it really should'nt be any shock that it sold as poorly as it did for a while.   I just don't see how PS4 is going to do it,  PS3 even had the Blu Ray player factor and it still only reached 80 million (so far). On top of the most recent games in the Infamous, LBP, Resistance, Killzone, God of War, Motorstorm, all sold terribly and the only franchise that anyone seems to care about is Uncharted, and that will wear thin too if they end up making 4,5, and 6.   Its the main reason why the Vita is a colossal failure. Sony thought its franchises were bigger then they were.  Each Uncharted sold 6 million which is great but when you consider that DKCR on Wii sold the same amount but was Nintendo's 15th best seller, thats pretty sad.  I keep telling Sony fans they need to shut up about Nintendo because in terms of software sales they are failing at a more alarming rate then the Wii U, which is even worse because production costs on games like TLOU and Uncharted and so high.
