There's really nothing they can do unless they start by abandoning the WII U at early 2015 and get a new console out in the holidays but this time they have to stop with the gamecube/dreamcast strategy and start by using blue ocean WII. 

They won't drop the Wii U so early, it will be a suicide (even more than keep selling the console). 2016 will the earliest.

They might as well drop it in early 2015 seeing that the WII U will be largely irrelevant at that time. There's essentially nothing nintendo can do to save the sinking ship. They won't just turn it around like they did with the 3DS because nintendo keeps giving the wrong games for the WII U. The WII U is truly a doomed console.
