Personally i think there is a new generation growing up on tablets and smartphone games who will be satisfied by them and won't take the jump to console gaming later on. And also an older generation like myself, who don't have the time anymore to spend a lot of time playing games but can play in quick short bursts on their smartphones..
I think mobile gaming is chipping away from the top and bottom of gamers, but there is still a large group of console gamers in the middle who won't be affected in the short term.. But i do think that group will shrink over the years..
And lets not forget about the women; Console gaming is ignoring this group for years, it had a chance with the wii but it didn't push on and mobile gaming together with browser games picked them up..
