I strolled into The Real Canadian Superstore at 11:00 and picked up a copy of brawl (they had two copies on the shelf and a small pile behind the counter); being that this is the same store I picked up my Wii at launch when I got into line at 7:30am this could just be that no one thinks of The Real Canadian Superstore as a place that sells videogames.
Personally, I would suspect that Nintendo encouraged retailers to buy an adequate number of copies for their Sunday launch and then suggested that they would need an additional shipment on tuesday (when most stores receive their new games); some stores probably took this advice, with others thinking that (since Brawl doesn't have a bumpy armored space marine in it) Super Smash Bros. would not sell that many units that quickly.
