Right off the bat I'll state that I think many people started saying this as a rebuttal when it became obvious the PS4 wins the graphics front, but I'll take this claim seriously for the sake of an imo interesting discussion.

Basically I'll start by listing all new features brought to the table for each system, both released and coming soon.

XBONE now:

Snap

Upload Studio

Rumble Triggers

Multitasking

Multilog In

Suspend/Resume

HDMI In (really big one)

Smartglass

Kinect 2.0 (not sure how to handle this one. Compared to the basic 360 it's super innovative but compared to Kinect 1 it's really only a refinement without bringing anything fundamentally new to the table)

          -Kinect Bar Code Scanning

-XBOX On (let it be noted that this one is only being included to please Kowen. Otherwise I'd have to list all the other new and "innovative" ways to turn on either console)

XBONE future:

Game Streaming

External HDD Support

PS4 now:

Multilog In

Game Recording

Game Streaming

Share and Options Button (I'm listing this separate of recording since it's a fundamental controller change)

Touchpad

Speaker (done before but still new enough)

Headphone Jack(done before but still new enough)

PlayStation App

Text Entry (rotate DS4 to type, or just use the PS app)

Light Bar

Multitasking

Live From Playstation

Remote Play built in

PS4 soon:

Gaikai

Stream Interaction(take control of another's game or give them gifts)

Suspend/Resume

First off I'll note I'm probably missing some things, especially on the XBONE side since sadly I don't own one.

As you can see the PS4 list is a lot longer! It's more innovative!

No that would be a stupid thing to say although I'd probably get a lot of responses. Instead these lists show that both are very innovative consoles. Neither is "just a stronger 7th gen system." The innovation brought this gen is more than any gen before it, excluding the Wii of course.
