Yeah, they don't have a Vita-only system seller like Nintendo has Pokemon.

Also, price. People aren't willing to pay that high of a price for a handheld, and as a result developers aren't keen to put a lot of games on a platform that isn't selling. Sure, the graphics are way better than on the cheaper 3DS, but graphics don't really matter to people who buy handhelds. It's too small of a screen for it to really matter that much in terms of immersion.

Yet the 3DS XL is the best selling model of 3DS system, and it's the exact same price.

The way I see it, 3DS is weaker, but it has 3D which is properly awesome. So I put both on par graphically, or at least to the point where I don't care about the difference.

The big problem with Vita, is the same issue PSP had. Most of the library is composed of PS3 clones. So far the biggest games for Vita IMO are stuff I can play on my PS3, better. Killzone, Uncharted, Assassin's Creed, Persona and Disgaea are the biggest franchises on the PSV IMO, and all those games are playable on PS3 (or PS2). As much as I want a PSV for Disgaea, I'm not going to shell out $200 on a console for one game.

3DS however has physical backward compatibility, so I can play all my DS games on the bigger screen. Plus with handheld dedicated franchises like Advance Wars, Super Mario 3D Land, Pokemon, Bravely Default, Luigi's Mansion, and others, it's a great buy. Sure some games are console clones (like Mario Kart, and Mario Party), but I didn't buy my 3DS primarily for these games, I picked them up along the way.
