Obama had supermajorities his first two years in office. He lost them largely through pursuing an agenda that people disagreed with but also because the Democratic Party lied about ending wars, lied about balancing budgets and getting rid of cronyism. They had both the House and Senate since 2006 and that is important to note because Clinton and Bush were both expected to govern even when the opposing party had some control. Believe it or not George W. Bush only had his party in control for 4 out of his 8 years in office. In 2000, a Senator flipped parties and gave the Senate to the Democrats. Then in 2006 his party lost both the Senate and the House. It is not appropriate to say the guy can't do his job unless he has supermajorities in both the House and Senate becuase he ran on a platform of changing the culture of Washington and uniting the country. The point is he lied about that and the lies cost his party the House of Reps. Now due to health care lies, it will probably cost his party the Senate and grow the Republican edge in the House. Barack Obama is a hyper-partisan, incompetent hack of a president. It has nothing to do with skin color though. He'd be just as bad and his policies and procedures just as terrible no matter his sex, race or orientation. The issue though is that his own constituents and his own party will never give him the blame and force him to change because of who he is and that is the real problem that sets back the African-American community in particular but the country as a whole. |
This X 1000. The sad thing is that for some reason people think the Reps/Conservatives should just go along with everything Obama wants, and that equals compromise. Heck, some of the more left leaning Reps do. Still, this IS NOT what this country was set up to be like. That would make the Congress just a big show, and our Republic would be a Dictatorship. Those Reps in the House were actually voted in to stop Obama, and the Dems who were in control for 2 years, from doing whatever they wanted.
It's also incredibly ridiculous to act like Obama has some great hardship in getting things passed in the Congress. In fact, he had it pretty good for the first few years, seeing as he is living in an ever growing PC America, where some were afraid to even criticize him for fear of being called racist. And EVERY president has had to deal with the opposing party. Some are good at it, others are not. Obama just falls under the category of "are not." Mainly because he doesn't like to comprimise, himself.
