Nintendo tried to be the hardcore company and cater to its base before and it blew up in their face. Then they go much more Mario heavy and casual and they sell 100 million units. Wonderful 101 is just one more example of why Nintendo sticks to their guns in terms of IP's. Its a great game but it sold terribly, while Wind Waker outsold it by 400,000 and is a remake of an old game. As a Nintendo fan I already know that they are going to make Zelda,Mario,DK,Metroid, and Smash Bros. The question is what order do they get them in and from a business perspective Donkey Kong is a huge seller and there is no question that it should come out before Metroid. DKCR outsold all Metroid Primes combined. Xbone/PS4 have been marketed so much that if they move a ton of units within the launch period then it will be more of a colossal failure then the 1st 9 months of Wii U in 2013.
