It's the biggest gaming forum there is. There is a reason why Major Nelson has an account there, Shu imitates their GIF's and insiders from all over the gaming industry post openly and some anonnymously there.

Eh don't the few vocal ones make you think otherwise. I like VGC, but it pales in comparison. GAF actually does something about trolls, banned forever :)

Only thing VGC has over GAF is the prettier layout.
