I got it, it just doesn't make any sense, considering I did refer it is as "the only viable method".

Anyway, he is right. Emulation is an impossibility, and will probably remain an impossiblity for at least another decade. Backwards compatibility through hardware would either require PS3 components in the PS4 or for the PS4 to use the same architecture as the PS3. Both would be pretty disastrous.
