Shown and announced are not the same thing. Just ask Uncharted fans. Skyward Sword was first shown in 2010, but it was actually announced in 2008. What happened at E3 2009 can only be described as a tease -- a suggestion of a reveal, a first look. Zelda U has been neither shown nor teased -- we have seen no part of it. It has been announced, and discussed in some detail. The amount of detail with which it has been discussed leads me to believe that Nintendo is closer to completion than they were with Skyward Sword in June 2009. They have simply chosen not to show us anything yet.

There's no way to know how far along the game actually is, because we have no clue what they were going to show us at E3 this year. What if they were only going to show us a couple of pictures, as they did with Skyward Sword in 2009?
