I seriously doubt they had "nothing" to show other than DKC. I do believe they mentioned that they could have shown Zelda U at E3, but held off to give it more time. There is plenty of stuff cooking in the Nintendo kitchen right now, a lot of which we haven't even heard about yet.
But it is pretty hilarious that DKCR was the thing being most talked about, because the show was such lamesauce.
