I know the OP is just ripping on Nintendo per normal but...
Wii U won't ever actually compete or be "saved" unless Nintendo makes it stand out against the 3DS.
My personal belief is that Nintendo HH's tend to over shadow their consoles. After all, for most consumers one Nintendo system should be enough. (Per gen) The Wii was highly successful because it offered something unique, and distended itself from the DS enough.
People will look at Wii U & 3DS and most will pick 3DS.
