Question: Should people not feel emotional about brands?

Is it wrong for a person to feel emotionally attached to Apple's brand? How about Johnson & Johnson? Or hell, I would argue that the Red Heart Association, Livestrong, etc are brands too.

How about negative emotion? BP for example.

I guess my point is that attacking fanboyism is really like attacking human nature too. I think that to demand that people not have emotional feelings towards brands is impossible. We're not robots. We're not perfectly rational people.

If we're going to define fanboyism as letting those emotions dictate what you say and act obnoxiously, yeah I'm on board. But then it's not really the "fan" part that's bad, but the "boyism" that is.

Acting childishly, for whatever reason is bad.
But having emotional feelings toward a brand isn't bad. It's human. And it's arrogant and dishonest to look down on others for being human.
