As twesterm says...

Possible - Yes
Likely - Not so much

I really hope it does happen though

It won't happen, especially the PS2 had quite a monopole position in the last generation which the PS3 does not. Not only did Nintendo stole all the casuals, even the hardcore base is pretty much shared between PS3 and XBox 360 thanks to Microsofts aggressive efforts in this gen.

The 12GB PS3 might eventually hit $100, don't count on any PS3's with Hard Drives to sell for that price.   I expect one day near the end of the launch, the PS3's with Hard Drives will be discontinued.   It's not hard to put in your own hard drive and Sony even encourages it in the PS4.

The 250GB PS3 will probably hit $149 eventually, but it's going to take a year.   The Black Friday Price has been the same for a few years now, except this is the first year for super slims.

If they hit 100 Million consoles, it will be 2016 or 2017 if the system survives that long.   The Playstation 2 did, however, they stopped making games for it for the most part after God of War II in 2008.   The difference between the Playstation 2 and the Playstation 3, there was NO digital content.   And we know that Japanese countries love to flood aging consoles with half baked games near the end(PSP)

Grand Theft Auto came out at the best time ever, 2 months before the new console, which gave people plenty of time to enjoy the game.    The  Playstation 4 will be light on content for another year, and expect some dual gen games into 2015 while people are transitioning over.

Will this be the last Call of Duty on PS3?   No, it's got another year.

Will this be the last Battlefield on PS3?   95% sure, yes.

Unfortunatly, there will be 3 more Street Fighter IV games on the PS3.   What about Tekken and SoulCalibur?   I vote PS3.

How long will sports games dual platform?   2017 for Madden and FIFA, 2014 for NHL(These games don't sell well anymore), and NBA 2K, WWE probably for one year.   MLB The Show probably will get two to three more years, the thing about PS3 is that they could code the same game for the PS3 and PSVita, and add additional features to the PS4, but still giving it the Cross Platform feature.   I would LOVE to see a non-EA NBA Jam(Midway style)  for the PS4/PSV/Xbox One.
