It's because Nintendo games>>>>>> Sony/MS games. Everybody wants to play Nintendo games, even Sony/MS gamers - while Nintendo fans don't feel the need to play Sony/MS games...

and because sony/microsoft hardware >>>>>> nintendo hardware. Everybody wants to play nintendo games, they just want to do it on a console that knows what multitasking and graphic card means.

I guess that's why Nintendo 64 and Gamecube sold so well. Oh wait...

To be fair, although those consoles were powerful and provided beautiful visuals for their respective generations, they were also saddled with other problems that ultimately kept them back. The cartridge technology in the 64 vs. the use of CDs in the PS1, and the mini disc as opposed to the DVD in the GC (along with the cute lunch box design) didn't do it much favors. People in my country switched from the SNEN to PS1 because third parties sided with the PS1 (in a sense) and created more games for it (I understand this is the same with the GC with respect to its medium). But I agree. Hardware is not all. I think it is only part of the equation, and as previous consoles have shown, it is not required to be the best.

Playstation = The Beast from the East

Sony + Nintendo = WIN! PS3 + PSV + PS4 + Wii U + 3DS
