I got mine orginally because I still had a phone contract running, but my phone itself was broken. My parents also pushed me to get a new one so I could check my eMail account when I'm travelling. So I quickly asked here how viable a Vita would be for this kind of situation and got mine some weeks after. Today I have a new phone (a 50$ one) and rarely use the 3G functionality of the Vita, but it was fun while it lasted. I still use it to check my eMail account when I don't want to fire up the laptop though.
After I aquired the Vita, I looked into the games. I am a bit handicapped´in that regard, since I'm don't really want to spend money on digital stuff. So I went out and got WipEout 2048, Assassin's Creed III Liberation, Uncharted Golden Abyss and the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection since those were really cheap (like 60€ combined or something).
Those games couldn't really spark my interest though, and the only one I actually finished is Uncharted, which was an alright game. I didn't expect too much from these games though, as I really only bought them to have something to play on my new Vita.
After that, I looked at the suggestions some users made to me in the Vita thread again. (Funny thing is that one actually suggested Valkyria Chronicles 2[PSP], which I had forgotten, but when I looked at the suggestions again I had (probably subconciously) bought the first game for PS3 and loved it. It's now my favourite non-Nintendo series. So thanks to the one who suggested it, if you read this!) One of the suggestions was Persona 4 Golden, and since one store in my area was closing down and had like 80% off of everything, I went to look for some Vita games and got P4G, Little Big Planet, ModNation Racers and PlayStation AllStars.

And P4G made the whole system worthwhile to me. It was such a magical experience playing through that game for the first time, and I still play it daily, trying to see the scenes that I missed. There are only a few games that had a similar impact on me.

I still play more on my 3DS than I do on my Vita, but I definitely don't regret getting it. Basically it all boils down to the fact that the system introduced me to P4G (as I'm not a big fan of some aspects of the Vita's OS), but that alone makes me love it.
