I don't understand the hype around 3d printers an why everyone should have one? Why does this not appeal to me like it should.

Eventually 3D printers will be able to print organic materials (by which I'm mainly referring to food), and they'll be as affordable as any other common home appliance. Wow I can now see the benefit for this in the future, I have no need of it but in the right hands it can do amamzing things.
