So any one country outside of the US (or maybe Japan) is almost a non-factor, but added together and they are significant.

It's a bit like the size of the economy. For a while there California had the 3rd largest economy in the world, behind USA and Japan. Of course now it's USA, China, Japan, not sure if California is 4th or if Germany or the UK has gone ahead, but still the fact that one state of the USA is in the top 5 or 6 economies of the world shows how huge the US economy is.
