I am totally content with games using stylized artistic directions like P4G, Bravely Default, New Little King's Story, Gravity Rush. Not everyone can do Uncharted GA, Killzone Mercs level of realism and should not be expected. Its a handheld, graphics are NOT a priority and they never have been in this space. |
Exactly. Problem is that, from what I see, many people are like that. That's what I refer to in my Fire Emblem "comparison". Even though the Wii Fire Emblem is one of the best imo, it was mostly rejected by the consumers (and is the lowest selling title in the series that was released internationally).
I'm perfectly fine with stylized games, too. Heck, those games are my favourites. I love Fire Emblem, my favourite game of all time is Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, my favourite non-Nintendo series is Valkyria Chronicles and Vita's best game so far (imo) is Persona 4 Golden (also very high on my favourite game list), which doesn't really use the Vita's power.
P4G actually did good on the Vita (relative to it's userbase), and I think that is caused by that fact that only a very limited crowd ownes one. That's often the case with these kinds of games seeing that, for example, the GC Fire Emblem (Path of Radiance) fared better than the one on Wii (Radiant Dawn). The other people don't buy it [the Vita] because it's games supposedly don't match it's hardware capabilities in how they look.
Of course Vita has other problems, but I think this a problem still. Probably mostly a problem that Sony's initial marketing caused.
