2D Mario's are a lot easier to get into than 3D ones. In the 2D Mario games.. you're moving from left of the screen, to the right, ending the level by touching the flag. In 3D, the game becomes a whole lot more complex. From the way you control your avatar (using different axis on the controller), the level design, down to the goals themselves.
