I am about 60% convinced they are showing the new Zelda, 20% it's something completely new, 15% it's a new Smash Brothers trailer/character, and 5% it's a new DKC trailer or something else we already know about (hopefully they aren't dumb enough to go with the 5% one)..
I'm really excited about seeing the new Zelda. I don't know why, but I just have this feeling Nintendo is going to totally revamp the Zelda franchise into something great again. Recent Zelda just hasn't excited me ever since Twlight Princess (Skyward Sword and all the handheld games haven't done it for me, even a Link between Worlds). What I hope to see, and what I believe SHOULD happen with Zelda, is, Nintendo should take it one of 2 directions.. and either one would be freaking awesome:
-The first would be to give it the "NSMB" treatment, by that I mean - return to the series arcade roots and make it a more fast paced-action based top down RPG where combat and survival is the main focus, and shifting away from the heavy cutscene/dialouge and puzzle Zeldas of late. This direction, while probably getting hate from the "hardcore" much like NSMB initially did, will eventually win them over, AND sell like gangbusters to the mass market crowd as well. That would also work really great with that tablet controller.
- The second would be to go all out epic mode, pretty up the graphics, and make it more mature and dark, as well as more open world. similar to Skyrim. Now THAT would really rock, and the stubborn hardcore would almost HAVE to get a Wii U after that, and the game would single handedly put Nintendo back on the map as a serious force in the industry.
