I don't see why this can't be true, Rare was amazing back in the day and I'm sure there was a friendly competition between them. Just look at their games, Mario 64 vs Banjo Kazooie, Zelda vs Dinosaur Planet, Mario Kart vs Diddy's Kong Racing.... and add Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, Killer Instinct!

Rare was probably even better than Nintendo, it was a shame and a huge mistake they sold them, and one of the reasons I didn't buy a GameCube.
