We've seen a lot of MK8 since E3, SSB4 has definitely been the lack of any real info beyond characters. So yeah, that is the one BIG wrench in my option 2 where it simply is not ready to launch in Q1 at all.
But a MK8 early Q1 launch and then bundle would significantly help.
