Ehh.. Gamecube is about as far from normal as you get. Super funky controller and a purple lunchbox console with a handle, complete with a ton of quirky, niche titles, including a cell shaded cartoony Zelda and a Mario game which centers around cleaning off mud with a jet propelled water pack on a tropical island.
The libraries are also (as of now) very similar..
Nintendoland = Mario Party 4/5/6
Zombi U = REmake/RE 4
Pikmin 3 = Pikmin 1/2
Wonderful 101 = Pikmin 1/2/Viewtiful Joe
Sonic Lost World = Sonic Adventure 2 Battle
Zelda WW HD = Zelda WW
etc..
The tablet controller is also reminicent of the GBA to GC connectivity
Wii U is essentially a Gamecube disguised as a Wii. Not that that's a bad thing necessarily, as I enjoyed some aspects of the Cube, but that is why the console is selling similar to the Gamecube, because the console itself is very similar to the Gamecube.
