Yeah the game industry would become a lot more boring with Sega and finally Nintendo out of hardware if it ever happened.
No offense to Sony/MS, but their hardware designs are fairly cold and boring, and they even look similar, two black boxes with the exact same features and the same emphasis on the same Western third party games.
It would be the end of the 80s/90s era of gaming in a lot of ways IMO.
