Twilight Princess had terrible and generic looking graphics due to a bad art direction. Realistic graphics would be incredibly boring too, it would really limit the game artistically, and I just do not seeing having a realistic looking Zelda game working at all.

While I fully agree, you have to keep in mind that Nintenddo's a business first and foremost, and that Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess (generally considered the most 'realistic' Zelda games) have outsold all other Zelda games, and by a very big margin, too. Considering  Wii U's sales, I'd wager Nintendo will want to secure as many sales as possible. Plus, they already have a cartoony Zelda on Wii U, with WW HD.
