Well the GC/Wii (Wii was only about 2 million the time FE was released) FE weren't on popular systems at the time in Japan, so it's understandable that they didn't do so well.

The GBA ones did around 250-350k which is pretty good. 

I'm sure the DS remake of FE 1 will do well seeming the DS has a better software to hardware ratio compared to most handheld consoles.

 When Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones was release in Japan, the GBA userbase was at 14,260,822.... while the DS is now 22,234,031 and still growing.   

 

Then you just have to add in US and Europe afterwards, so I'm sure it will do great :).
