I think the only reason some people say it doesnt matter is because X1 surprised us by rendering games at 720p...

Before that EVERYBODY was on the 1080p Next gen train.

no, i always said that i see it on my tv because of the distance i sit to it but when i look at how my firends look at their tv they won't really see a difference with them sitting on the couch with a table and some extra space between their eyes and the tv in the living room. they would maybe see a little difference but wouldn't care.

and many people simply don't care about it. cod was the game with the worst resolution last gen and it is also the best selling franchise. and i never heard the cod fans in the games complaining about how the game doesn't look as crisp as the 720p games on the console. all they said was "woahh sooo awesome"

what i really would like to see once is if a gaming magazine would put 720p, 900 and 1080p versions of some pc games on different tv sizes with all other settings exactly the same and let some other people look on them from different viewing distances starting with a big difference and would have to say when they really have the feeling that one picture loks better as the other. they shouldn't know which tv has which version running so that they wouldn't have a clue before this test about what this even is about.

would be really interesting but all you ever get is a "i see no difference or you can see a difference" without even mentioning in which environment they tested it.
