Yes.
I love the Lord of the Rings as well. I can't see how one couldn't, but yes, I've also seen it happen. All three are completely awesome, but I like The Two Towers the best I think. Those movies even got me to read the books. I don't like to read books, takes too long, but those three books are the only books I've ever read (I used to fake it in High School hehe 
). Bought the book of The Hobbit as well, gonna read it after I've seen the second film, which is naturally, a day one(-ish)
