Some upscalers can do almost magical things. 1080P on a 4K could most often look better than 1080p on a 1080p display. But we do have to remember Blu-ray can't do 1080p/60fps either. 3D Blu-Rays do 2 different 1080p 60 fps images, thanks to their disc speed of 22.5 MB a second plus HDMI 1.4 being capable of the same images.
3D Blu-Rays sell off the selves super fast in no time, everytime. But yeah, both 2D Blu-Rays+DVDs have a combine total of still very weak sells.
