Every single platform needs a year in which it gets at least 8-10 AAA big time mindblowing 1st party games + a couple of AAA 3rd party games. Every single one. PS3 needed that, 3DS needed that, Wii U needs that (and is getting it right now starting with Zelda: WW HD) and Vita is no different. It needs a lot of love in a short period of time. It needs to get an exclusive God of War, a Naughty Dog game, Infamous, Gran Turismo, another Killzone (they have the engine and assets, use them to make another game), a Patapon, 2-3 Sony 1st party RPGs (they have the IPs - Rogue Galaxy, Dark Cloud, Legend of Dragoon, etc., they can make a new one as well), maybe a Heavenly Sword 2 and a Twisted Metal (they got the engine from the PS3 - just port it and make a game) plus 2-3 new games coupled with a bunch of big 3rd party games like Bioshock Vita, MGS V spin-off, an exclusive FF game, Persona 5, Morrowind HD, another exclusive Assassin's Creed, maybe a Soul's game and GTAV: San Andreas Story and... you have a saved console. Obviously though, it all has to be released in a single year, 15 months maximum. One punch after another, so that people see they are missing out big time if they ignore the Vita. Cause as it is now, an average gamer in the West sees a big game every 5-6 months. Not much really to get excited about. This is pretty much what Sony needs to deliver to save the Vita. It's not like it's something unique or different from other platforms. Every single platform needs such a treatment, there is no way around it, Nintendo is doing it right now with the Wii U. Can you imagine Vita not selling after getting so many games in one year? And when it starts to sell - third parties will flock to it, bacause they will see a viable market there. They will even in the West, because developing for Vita is cheaper than developing for PS3, let alone PS4! Still, the burden is on Sony to make it happen.
So to sum up - one simple thing Vita needs is 8-10 major 1st party AAA games in one year coupled with GTAV: San Andreas Stories. And for bloody hell just kill the PS3 1st party support... |
The 3DS now has a constant flow of games, plus the PS Vita is just a 2DS. Plus the 3DS has always had the way better quality of games, for example Kid Icarus: Uprising.
And even the Wii U is selling more then the PS4 during the same week for crying out loud, like 3 times more. And the XBox ONE has better lifetime sells to add insult to injury. (I personally never liked XBox)
