Well it has only just sold more software. Given that the install base for the PSP was bigger after 68 weeks its hardly surprising. The PSP wasn't hit with pirating until later on in its life.

Also the PS3 should double its install base this year.

That's the key. The PSP is just as easy to pirate on as a PC now. If it weren't for that, an increase in software sales would probably increase quite a bit.

I'm sorry, but this is just so wrong. The PSP is not anywhere near as easy to pirate games on as a PC. I'd actually say the DS is far easier to pirate games for, the difference being you need to buy a flash device rather than mucking with the firmware. Replacing the firmware on the PSP to pirate games is not all that simple. It's not all that hard either, but it looks like rocket science compared to PC piracy. For PC games, you just find a pirate copy, download it, run it. For the PSP you need to replace the standard firmware and risk bricking your PSP in the process.

I'm not saying piracy isn't a factor, but piracy on the PSP is more akin to piracy on the PS2 where you need to in some way modify the system or use special tools to play pirated games.
