Crusader Kings 2 mod floods the medieval world with the walking dead

Comment

If the world was struck by the zombie apocalypse today, modern fiction dictates we’d almost survive it. Of course this is a load of tosh and it’s inevitable we’d all succumb, but if we were to stand any chance the key to zombie defeat is a) guns and b) cars filled with stolen petrol. So what exactly would the chances of survival be if this hypothetical outbreak occurred before the dawn of sliced bread. Say, the middle ages? Would the sword and shield be enough? Let Crusader Kings Z provide you with the answers.

The Mandate trailer boards your ship and kills your crew

Comment

Super-exciting Kickstarter project The Mandate is off to a brilliant start, already soaring past its funding goal and now well on the pay to becoming the co-op sci-fi RPG of everyone’s spice-fuelled dreams. If one of your dreams consisted of breaching an enemy starship, sneaking on board and laying waste to its captain, then the latest trailer really is quite the treat for you.

For everyone else, Walder Frey/Argus Filch/William Hartnell narrates it. That is to say, British British actor David Bradley recites Rudyard Kipling’s The Destroyers whilst men get shot with lasers.

Introversion break out official mod support for Prison Architect

Comment

It’s not just snoring bears Lily Allen’s trill-some cover of ‘Somewhere Only We Know’ brought back from snoozeville. There’s the cacodaemon Ith’to’il, awakened from a thousand year slumber, now clawing his way up from the earth’s core to claim his birthright: the green planet and everything on it. There are the clowns of Norfolk, finally free from stasis to terrorise the good people of England’s flattest county. And there’s Introversion, now returned after two months’ hibernation.

The Prison Architect developers have readied Prison Architect’s 15th alpha update to date - a significant patch that introduces tiredness to prison staff, staff rooms to aid their recovery, a round of performance optimisations, and - most excitingly - moddy, moddy mods.

"We want to make PC gaming as simple as possible", say Nvidia

AMD have their tech in both of the new consoles, which I imagine is a bit like signing a contract ensuring your comfortable existence for the next decade. Nvidia have no such cushion - but they do get to play PC champions while their competitors remain understandably schtum.

Today, Nvidia are selling the idea of small form PCs as a like-for-like alternative to the Xbox One and PS4.

“Enthusiast players want the ultimate games system and that is the PC,” said consumer sales man Matt Wright.

Green Man Gaming 4-Play sale cuts digits off Super Meat Boy and Magicka

Comment

I’d started to form a thought that a 4-Play sale might be about the welcome glut of four-player co-op games we’ve had this last half-decade - Left 4 Dead, Rayman, Ghost Recon, Monaco, even Mario - but soon had that misconception buried beneath a shroud of unexpected doominess. It turns out Green Man Gaming have asked their regular bargaineers what game they’d choose to spend their last four hours on Earth with. Battlefield 4, it turns out, and Skyrim, both of which will appear in this weekend’s sales.

Evidently still hot on that number, GMG have pledged to run at least four deals every four hours, across the next four days.
