Software BC is ok but shipping PS3 without any BC isn't ( especially when it's software, adding software BC to the 40G would cost Sony NOTHING). |
actually there is a hardware difference between the 40 gig and the 80 gig, For bc the 80 gig includes the gpu from the ps2 it doesnt include the Emotion engine cpu hence software emulation is needed to emulate the cpu... sadly its been reported that currently the ps3 is not powerful enough to emulate both chips in software however sony is hiring new developers looking for a way to squeeze enough power to emulate both but dont hold you breath its a long shot the 40gig will ever get close to the BC the 80 gig has presently.
